Dash Berlin World
It’s a very, very fun machine, it’s also a user-friendly machine that you can just play with very intuitively. When I was just starting out as a DJ, taking my very first steps, I was making recordings on cassette tape and putting them next to each other to create samples. And I think one of the great things about the Trackformer is that it’s one of those machines that, by the standards of today, is the same as those first steps that I took. And it’s intuitive, and lets creativeness come from the person who plays with it. I think it’s a very powerful, playful, and fun machine.
And I think an interesting challenge for a lot of artists is to consider “How can we bring in extra sounds that we have and produce new effects and sounds, to take being a DJ to the next level?” With this machine I think it’s quite easy for people to do that. What I especially like about the XW-PD1 is that I can have it on my lap, and then just put the strap on and I can move with it right away. And so when I find something that’s inspiring, if I’m on the bus, if I’m on the train, if I’m in the car with my friends, it doesn’t matter, I can always have it with me. The fact that you have a built-in speaker is really nice. I especially like that you can just put in some batteries, and you’re ready to go. But you can also of course use it with a normal adapter. This gives you possibilities, either to set it up somewhere where you want to play with it, like in a studio environment, or you can just take it with you on the go. It’s such a compact trackpad that’s easy to use on the go, so it gives a lot of young artists and creators the possibilities to find out where their creativeness is. But for professionals also, it’s capable of achieving a level where people are going to be really surprised about what it can do. It’s quite easy to load up your own sounds, your own samples, your own effects, which you can also put into the machine, things that I am already doing for my live shows.
There are several tracks that come pre-loaded on the Trackformer. You can also add any of your own tracks that you like. The cool thing is that you can remix these tracks on the fly; you can use the sounds to make your own compositions. And that’s what I really like about this machine. You can load up a song, skip through to find a part of that song that you like, and then you can create a sample from that part, play along with it, or add some extra beats to it. You can do this really quickly so it’s very convenient.
People can download extra songs from the Casio website, and I’m very honored to say that there are four songs from Dash Berlin that are available to download and load onto the Trackformer.
